Download link rather than open on new tab

You want to download a file instead of opening it in a new tab when you click on a link. Here are a few ways to achieve this:

Method 1: Right-click and "Save as"

  1. Right-click on the link.
  2. Select "Save as" (or "Save link as" or "Download linked file as") from the context menu.
  3. Choose a location to save the file and click "Save".

Method 2: Use the browser's download manager

  1. Check if your browser has a built-in download manager. For example:
    • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + J to open the downloads page.
    • Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + J to open the downloads page.
    • Microsoft Edge: Press Ctrl + J to open the downloads page.
  2. Click on the link, and the file will be added to the download manager.
  3. You can then manage your downloads from the download manager.

Method 3: Use a browser extension

  1. Install a browser extension that allows you to download files instead of opening them in a new tab. Some popular options include:
    • Download All (Chrome)
    • Download Master (Chrome)
    • Download Link (Firefox)
  2. Once installed, click on the link, and the file will be downloaded instead of opening in a new tab.

Method 4: Use a keyboard shortcut

  1. Press Ctrl + S (Windows) or Cmd + S (Mac) while hovering over the link.
  2. This will prompt you to save the file instead of opening it in a new tab.

By using one of these methods, you should be able to download files instead of opening them in a new tab.
