The Movie is Finally Happening!
After years of development hell, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. have finally greenlit the movie adaptation of Wicked, the beloved Broadway musical. The film is set to be released on December 22, 2023.
Casting News
The movie has already cast its leads:
- Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, The Color Purple) will play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.
- Ariana Grande (Sweetener, 7 Rings) will play Glinda, the Good Witch of the West.
- Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians, Star Trek) will play Madame Morrible, the wicked headmistress of the witches' school.
Director and Screenplay
Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, Now You See Me 2) will direct the movie, with a screenplay by Winnie Holzman (My So-Called Life, My Life).
Music
