Why we cannot reconvene nass yet saraki dogara #
I think there may be some confusion here.
NASS stands for the National Assembly of Nigeria, which is the legislative arm of the Nigerian government. It consists of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Saraki and Dogara are former leaders of the National Assembly. Bukola Saraki was the President of the Senate from 2015 to 2019, while Yakubu Dogara was the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019.
As for why we cannot reconvene NASS, I'm assuming you're referring to the fact that the National Assembly has not been reconvened since the 9th Assembly ended in June 2023. There are several reasons for this:
- Elections: The 2023 general elections took place in February and March 2023, and the results are still being contested in some cases. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is still conducting supplementary elections in some states.
- Inauguration of new Assembly: The newly elected members of the National Assembly have not been inaugurated yet. The inauguration process typically takes place after the elections, and it's expected to happen soon.
- Leadership tussle: There is currently a leadership tussle in the National Assembly, with different factions vying for control. This has led to delays in the reconvening of the Assembly.
- Security concerns: There have been security concerns in some parts of the country, which may have contributed to the delay in reconvening the Assembly.
Once the elections are concluded, the new members are inaugurated, and the leadership tussle is resolved, we can expect the National Assembly to reconvene and resume its legislative duties.
