Psalm 35 good news bible
Here is Psalm 35 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Psalm 35
A prayer for deliverance from enemies
- Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.
- Take up shield and buckler; come close to saving me.
- Draw your spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
- Let those who seek my life be put to shame and confusion; let those who plot my downfall be turned back and humiliated.
- Let those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" be appalled and confounded; let those who seek my life be turned back and put to shame.
- Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away.
- Let their path be dark and slippery; with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.
- Because they hid their net for me without cause and dug a pitfall for me without sin;
- Let ruin come upon them; let the net they hid be their own downfall; let them fall into their own pit.
- Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation.
- All my bones will say, "Lord, who is like you, who rescues the oppressed, who saves the crushed and the oppressed?"
- Many bulls surround me, roaring lions that attack me.
- They are like a wall of water that is breaking, with the waves crashing over me.
- But I will trust in you, Lord; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
- I will shout to the Lord and he will answer me from his holy mountain. I will pray to him, and he will answer me, with my heart full of joy, and my lips singing praise.
- I will lie down and sleep, and I will sleep soundly, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.
