Psalm 31 good news bible
Here is Psalm 31 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Psalm 31
A Prayer for Help
- In you, Lord, I have taken shelter; I trust in you and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
- You are my rock, my savior, my God, my rock where I take shelter. God is my rock, my savior, my God, my rock where I take shelter.
- How long will you forget me, Lord? How long will you hide your face from me?
- How long must I struggle with anguish within my soul, with sorrow in my heart all day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
- Send me your light and your faithful care; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
- Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
- Why are you so downcast, my soul? Why are you so troubled within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my savior and my God.
- My God, I trust in you; I trust, Lord, and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
- All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my downfall. All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my downfall.
- But you, Lord, are my shield; my honor and the One who upholds my dignity.
- With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead to the Lord.
- I pour out my soul to you, Lord; I tell you my trouble, for you listen to me.
- Free me from my prison, that I may praise your name. Then the righteous will gather around me, because you have dealt kindly with me.
- You who are my friends, do not stand by and watch, or you will become like me.
- But let your eyes be on one who is honest and good, whose eyes are on the Lord.
- I will trust in you, Lord; I will trust in you, Lord, for you have been my help. You have made my heart strong, and you will help me.
- I will sing of your salvation; I will sing of your salvation, and say, "You are my God!"
- You have been my help; and in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. My soul will also be satisfied, as with the richest of foods.
- I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
- You have given me a new song to sing to you, O God, a song of praise in the temple of the Lord.
- The Lord gives me strength, and he makes my way safe.
- I will trust in you, Lord, and I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
