Latest Update (2023)
The Federal Government has approved the payment of N33,000 as monthly allowance for NYSC members. This was announced by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, in February 2023.
Previous Updates
- In 2022, the Federal Government increased the NYSC allowance from N30,000 to N33,000.
- In 2021, the NYSC allowance was increased from N19,800 to N30,000.
- In 2020, the NYSC allowance was increased from N19,800 to N21,000.
Current Allowance Structure
As of 2023, the NYSC allowance structure is as follows:
- N33,000 per month for all NYSC members
- N15,000 per month for corps members serving in rural areas
- N10,000 per month for corps members serving in urban areas
Payment Schedule
The NYSC allowance is paid on a monthly basis, usually around the 25th of each month. However, the payment schedule may vary depending on the state of deployment and other factors.
Other Benefits
In addition to the monthly allowance, NYSC members also receive other benefits, including:
- A monthly stipend of N5,000 for corps members serving in rural areas
- A monthly stipend of N3,000 for corps members serving in urban areas
- A one-time allowance of N20,000 for corps members serving in rural areas
- A one-time allowance of N15,000 for corps members serving in urban areas
- Free accommodation and feeding during the orientation camp
- Free medical care during the orientation camp
- A certificate of national service upon completion of the program
