NYSF Denies Report of Introducing Sharia Practices in FCT Orientation Camp
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied reports circulating on social media that it has introduced Sharia practices in its orientation camp in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, described the reports as "false and misleading".
Ibrahim said that the NYSC is a secular organization that is committed to promoting national unity and integration, and that it does not have any intention of introducing Sharia practices or any other religious practices in its orientation camps.
He urged the public to disregard the reports and to rely on official sources of information for accurate and reliable information.
The NYSC DG also assured that the orientation camps are designed to promote national unity, integration, and development, and that they are open to all Nigerian youths, regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations.
The statement reads:
"The attention of the Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on social media that the NYSC has introduced Sharia practices in its orientation camp in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
"We wish to categorically deny this report as false and misleading. The NYSC is a secular organization that is committed to promoting national unity and integration, and we do not have any intention of introducing Sharia practices or any other religious practices in our orientation camps.
"We urge the public to disregard this report and to rely on official sources of information for accurate and reliable information.
"Our orientation camps are designed to promote national unity, integration, and development, and they are open to all Nigerian youths, regardless of their religious beliefs or affiliations.
"We will continue to work towards promoting national unity and integration, and we will not be swayed by false and misleading reports.
"We appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation in this matter."
