In a bid to curb the upsurge in drug abuse among the youth, the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a major campaign on drug abuse in Lagos State.
The campaign which is part of the agency’s Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign is targeted at enlightening and sensitizing people on the dangers and effects associated with drug abuse, codeine in particular.
The Acting Director General of the agency, Mrs. Yetunde Oni who was represented by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Christiana Obiazikwor urged the Nigerian youths to shun all inappropriate acts of drug abuse.
Speaking at the campaign launch in the Surulere Local Council Development Area to market women, youths and drivers, Oni lamented about the increasing rates of drug abuse among the youths which had become a national concern. She advised all youth to stay away from drug abuse and focus on living healthily.
