Plans are set by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for a public show of two newly acquired Mi-35M sophisticated attack aircraft.
The new airplanes would be displayed at the 53rd anniversary of the Nigerian Air Force slated for this weekend in Markudi, the Benue State capital. The airplanes have unique qualities, one of such is the capacity to fully operate during the day and night, regardless of the weather conditions.
Director of NAF Operations and the Chairman, 2017 NAF Day Organising Committee, Air Vice Marshall, Oladayo Amao, disclosed to newsmen at a pre-event press conference in Abuja yesterday that the focus of the celebration of 2017 NAF day would be “employment of air power for enduring national security.”
Amao remarked that the annual NAF Day is basically an offering of opportunity for stock taking, bearing in mind the indispensable role of NAF in fighting both genuine and apparent territorial challenges facing Nigeria.
“There is no gain saying that the priority of the NAF lies in the consolidation of the gains of air power employment especially at this crucial stage in the history of Nigeria.”
He thereafter underscored similar programs scheduled to celebrate the great attainment of the Nigerian Air Force, most importantly the security of the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
In his speech, he said the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, ordered a comprehensive medical consultation to be performed in all the commands of NAF and FCT Abuja within the celebration period so that people residing in the immediate host communities around NAF bases could benefit.
The NAF anniversary would also include air weapon meet, ceremonial parade, winging of new pilots, presentation of colours to special operation commands and induction of the newly acquired attack helicopters, in addition to aerial and static display.
