Latest news on apc convention
The latest news on the APC (All Progressives Congress) convention is that the party has announced the postponement of its national convention, which was initially scheduled to hold on March 26-27, 2022.
According to a statement issued by the APC National Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the convention has been postponed due to the ongoing court cases and appeals challenging the party's leadership and the composition of its National Working Committee (NWC).
The statement read: "Following the ongoing court cases and appeals challenging the leadership of our great party and the composition of the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to postpone the National Convention earlier scheduled for March 26-27, 2022."
The APC NEC has also resolved to set up a committee to resolve the disputes and appeals, and to ensure a peaceful and successful convention.
The postponement of the convention has been met with mixed reactions from party members and stakeholders, with some calling for the convention to be held as scheduled, while others have expressed support for the postponement to allow for the resolution of the disputes.
It is worth noting that the APC has been embroiled in a series of internal crises, including a leadership tussle between the party's National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, who is also the Chairman of the APC Governors' Forum.
The party has also been facing challenges in its preparations for the 2023 general elections, including the nomination of candidates and the allocation of party positions.
The APC convention is expected to be a crucial event for the party, as it will determine the party's leadership and direction for the next few years.
