Isaiah 43 good news bible
Here is Isaiah 43 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Isaiah 43
God's Love for Israel
1 This is what the Lord says, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. 2 If only you had listened to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea. 3 Your descendants would have lived in peace, and your children would have inherited the land. 4 Instead, you have refused to listen, and so you will have to serve your enemies in a foreign land. You will be hungry and thirsty, and you will be naked and bare. 5 But even then, I will not forget you. I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
God's Power and Glory
6 See, all of them are nothing, and what they do amounts to nothing. Those who trust in them will be like a shrub in the desert, like a person who is parched and famished. 7 But Israel is the one who trusts in me, the Holy One of Israel. 8 I will be your God, and you will be my people. You will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. 9 I will be with you, and I will save you. I will make you my people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
God's Promise to Restore Israel
10 You are my witnesses, says the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am the one. Before me no god was formed, and after me there will be none. 11 I, even I, am the one who says, "You are my witnesses." And I am the one who says, "I am God." 12 You are my witnesses, and you are my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am the one. Before me no god was formed, and after me there will be none. 13 I, even I, am the one who says, "You are my witnesses." And I am the one who says, "I am God." 14 But you have refused to listen, and so you will have to serve your enemies in a foreign land. You will be hungry and thirsty, and you will be naked and bare. 15 But even then, I will not forget you. I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
God's Promise to Restore Israel
16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. 17 Your destroyers will be like the wind, and your pursuers will be like the storm. But see, they will be destroyed at the storm, and they will vanish like smoke. 18 And you, Israel, will be saved by the Lord with an eternal salvation; you will not be ashamed or humiliated to the end of time. 19 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. 20 I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. 21 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. 22 Since you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I will give them in exchange for you on your behalf. You are beautiful on the earth; you are my love, my bride.
God's Promise to Restore Israel
23 Your builder comes; your destroyer will depart from you. 24 Look at Zion, the city of our festivals; your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful abode, a tent that will not be moved; its stakes will never be pulled up, nor will any of its ropes be broken. 25 But Ah, you who forget the Lord, who build cities and inhabit them, who plant vineyards and eat their fruit, but forget the Rock who gave you birth, who brought you forth from the womb. 26 This is what the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of the whole earth, says: "I am the one who says, 'You are my people,' and 'You will be my sons and daughters.'" 27 Let them give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever!
