Insurance brokers implore government to tackle insecurity
Insurance Brokers Implore Government to Tackle Insecurity
A delegation of insurance brokers in Nigeria has called on the government to take immediate and decisive action to address the growing insecurity in the country. The brokers, who are members of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), made the plea during a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.
According to the brokers, the current state of insecurity in the country is having a devastating impact on the insurance industry, with many businesses and individuals unable to access insurance cover due to the perceived high risk of loss or damage. They also expressed concern that the lack of effective security measures is driving up insurance premiums, making it difficult for many Nigerians to afford cover.
The NCRIB delegation, led by its President, Mr. Ayodapo Ogunbadejo, urged the government to take concrete steps to address the root causes of insecurity, including poverty, unemployment, and social inequality. They also called for increased investment in security infrastructure, such as surveillance systems and emergency response services.
"We understand that security is a shared responsibility between the government and the private sector," said Ogunbadejo. "However, we believe that the government has a critical role to play in ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians. We urge the government to take immediate action to address the current state of insecurity and to work with the private sector to develop effective solutions to this problem."
The brokers also highlighted the need for the government to provide a conducive business environment, including a stable and secure environment, to attract investment and promote economic growth. They noted that the current state of insecurity is driving away investors and hindering economic development.
"We believe that a stable and secure environment is essential for economic growth and development," said Ogunbadejo. "We urge the government to take concrete steps to address the current state of insecurity and to work with the private sector to develop effective solutions to this problem."
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, assured the brokers that the government is committed to addressing the issue of insecurity and promoting economic growth. She noted that the government is working to develop a comprehensive plan to address the root causes of insecurity and to promote economic development.
"We understand the importance of security and stability for economic growth and development," said Ahmed. "We are committed to working with the private sector to develop effective solutions to this problem and to promoting a stable and secure environment for all Nigerians."
The meeting between the NCRIB delegation and the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning was part of a series of engagements between the insurance industry and the government to address the issue of insecurity and promote economic growth.
