The Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme (ISFAP) is a bursary program offered by the South African government to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing their higher education. Here are the details of the ISFAP bursaries for 2023:

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Be a student at a public university or a university of technology in South Africa
  3. Be studying towards a degree or diploma that is recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
  4. Have a combined household income of R350,000 or less per annum
  5. Be in financial need
  6. Not be receiving any other bursary or financial aid that covers the full cost of their studies

Bursary Benefits:

  1. Full tuition fees for the academic year
  2. A living allowance of R15,000 per month
  3. A book allowance of R2,000 per year
  4. A laptop allowance of R10,000 (once-off)
  5. A travel allowance of R2,000 per year

Application Process:

  1. Students must apply online through the ISFAP website
  2. Applications must be submitted by 31 January 2023
  3. Students must upload the required documents, including:
    • A certified copy of their ID document
    • A certified copy of their academic record
    • A proof of income (e.g. payslip, letter from employer)
    • A proof of registration at a public university or university of technology
  4. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview
