NEW YEAR MESSAGE BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, ON THE OCCASION OF THE NEW YEAR, 2023

Fellow Nigerians,

As we welcome the New Year, 2023, I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Almighty God for seeing us through another year. I also want to extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, for a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

2022 was a challenging year for our country, but we made significant progress in many areas. We continued to work tirelessly to address the security challenges that have plagued our nation, and we made significant strides in the fight against terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality.

We also made significant progress in the area of infrastructure development, with the completion of several major projects, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Highway, and the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri Railway.

In addition, we continued to work to improve the business environment, with the aim of attracting more foreign investment and creating more jobs for our citizens. We also made significant progress in the area of agriculture, with the aim of increasing our food production and reducing our reliance on imported food.

However, despite these achievements, we still have a lot of work to do to address the many challenges that our country faces. We will continue to work hard to improve the security situation, to develop our infrastructure, to improve the business environment, and to create more jobs for our citizens.

As we look to the New Year, I want to urge all Nigerians to remain committed to our shared values of unity, hard work, and resilience. I want to urge us all to continue to work together to build a better future for ourselves and for our children.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of our armed forces, our security agencies, and our law enforcement agencies for their bravery and dedication to duty. I want to thank our healthcare workers, our teachers, and our civil servants for their hard work and dedication to serving our nation.

And I want to thank the international community for their continued support and partnership with Nigeria.

As we enter the New Year, I want to assure you that my administration will continue to work tirelessly to address the challenges that our country faces. We will continue to work to improve the security situation, to develop our infrastructure, to improve the business environment, and to create more jobs for our citizens.

I want to assure you that we will not rest until we have achieved our vision of a Nigeria that is united, prosperous, and at peace.

Thank you, and happy New Year.

END
