Former colombian guerrilla leader timochenko launches presidential bid
I think there may be some confusion here. Timochenko is not a former Colombian guerrilla leader, but rather the nom de guerre of Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri, a Colombian politician and former leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrilla group.
In 2016, the FARC and the Colombian government signed a peace agreement, which led to the disarmament of the FARC and the transformation of the group into a political party. As part of the agreement, Timochenko, who was the FARC's leader at the time, was granted immunity from prosecution and allowed to participate in Colombian politics.
In 2018, Timochenko ran for president of Colombia as the candidate of the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force (FARC) party, but he lost the election to Iván Duque.
