Five forgotten cup competitions we want to see back

What a great topic! Here are five forgotten cup competitions that we'd love to see back:

  1. The Anglo-Scottish Cup (1978-1981): This competition was a knockout tournament between clubs from England and Scotland. It was a great way to promote friendly matches between the two nations, and it would be fantastic to see it revived.
  2. The Texaco Cup (1971-1973): This competition was a European cup competition for clubs from the British Isles, featuring teams from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It was a great way to give smaller clubs a chance to compete against bigger teams, and it would be wonderful to see it return.
  3. The European Cup Winners' Cup (1960-1999): Although the competition was replaced by the UEFA Cup, it's still a shame that it's no longer in existence. The Cup Winners' Cup was a great way for teams that won domestic cups to compete against other European teams, and it would be fantastic to see it return in some form.
  4. The Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (1955-1971): This competition was a precursor to the UEFA Cup, featuring teams from cities that hosted international trade fairs. It was a great way to promote international football and give smaller clubs a chance to compete against bigger teams. Although it was replaced by the UEFA Cup, it would be wonderful to see it return in some form.
  5. The European Super Cup (1972-1999): Although the competition was replaced by the UEFA Super Cup, it's still a shame that it's no longer in existence. The European Super Cup was a great way to pit the winners of the European Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup against each other, and it would be fantastic to see it return in some form.

These are just a few examples, but there are many other forgotten cup competitions that we'd love to see back. Do you have a favorite forgotten cup competition that you'd like to see revived?
