First muslim mayor condemns donald trumps take islam
I think there may be some misinformation here.
The first Muslim mayor of a major American city is Rashida Tlaib, who was elected as the Mayor of Detroit in 2009. However, she is not the first Muslim mayor to condemn Donald Trump's views on Islam.
In fact, many Muslim leaders and politicians have spoken out against Trump's comments and policies targeting Muslims and Islam. Here are a few examples:
- In 2015, Trump called for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslim immigration to the US, sparking widespread condemnation from Muslim leaders and politicians.
- In 2016, Trump's campaign advisor, Kellyanne Conway, said that Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US was not a "Muslim ban," but rather a "pause" on immigration from countries with "terrorist ties."
- In 2017, Trump signed an executive order that banned travel from several majority-Muslim countries, which was widely criticized as a "Muslim ban" and led to widespread protests and legal challenges.
Many Muslim leaders and politicians have spoken out against Trump's views and policies, including:
- Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), who is a Muslim and a former presidential candidate, has been a vocal critic of Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric.
- Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is a Muslim and a refugee from Somalia, has spoken out against Trump's anti-Muslim policies and has been a target of Islamophobic attacks.
- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights organization, has repeatedly condemned Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric and policies.
- The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a Muslim advocacy group, has also spoken out against Trump's anti-Muslim policies and rhetoric.
So, while Rashida Tlaib is indeed a Muslim mayor, she is not the first Muslim mayor to condemn Trump's views on Islam. Many Muslim leaders and politicians have spoken out against Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric and policies over the years.
