Creating a new page using permalinks
Creating a new page using permalinks in WordPress!
What are permalinks?
Permalinks are permanent links to your website's pages and posts. They are used to create a unique URL for each page or post, making it easier for users to share and find your content.
How to create a new page using permalinks in WordPress:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard: Go to your website's URL and log in to your WordPress dashboard using your username and password.
- Click on "Pages": In the dashboard, click on the "Pages" tab in the left-hand menu.
- Click on "Add New": Click on the "Add New" button to create a new page.
- Enter your page title and content: Enter a title for your page and add your content in the text editor.
- Set your permalink: In the "Permalink" section, enter a custom permalink for your page. This will be the URL that users will use to access your page.
- Click "Publish": Click the "Publish" button to save your page and make it live.
Tips and Variations:
- Use a descriptive title: Make sure your page title is descriptive and includes relevant keywords to help users find your page.
- Use a custom permalink structure: You can customize your permalink structure by going to Settings > Permalinks and selecting a custom structure.
- Use a slug: A slug is a part of the permalink that comes after the domain name. You can customize your slug by adding a dash (-) or an underscore (_) to separate words.
- Use a category or tag: You can assign your page to a category or tag to help users find related content.
- Use a custom page template: You can assign a custom page template to your page to change its layout and design.
Example:
Let's say you want to create a new page called "About Us" with the permalink "about-us". Here's how you would do it:
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Click on "Pages" and then "Add New".
- Enter "About Us" as the title and add your content.
- In the "Permalink" section, enter "about-us" as the custom permalink.
- Click "Publish" to save and make the page live.
Your new page will now be accessible at yourdomain.com/about-us.
