Coronavirus all 179 isolated contacts released in lagos ogun health commissioner
According to a report by The Punch, the Lagos and Ogun State Governments have released all 179 isolated contacts of the coronavirus patients in their respective states.
The Commissioner for Health in Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this announcement on Monday, March 23, 2020, during a press briefing at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja.
Abayomi explained that the decision to release the contacts was taken after they had completed their 14-day isolation period and tested negative for the virus.
He said, "We have released all the 179 contacts that were isolated in Lagos State. They have completed their 14-day isolation period and have tested negative for COVID-19."
Similarly, the Ogun State Government also announced the release of all its isolated contacts, according to a statement by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker.
Coker said, "We are pleased to announce that all the 179 contacts that were isolated in Ogun State have been released. They have completed their 14-day isolation period and have tested negative for COVID-19."
The release of the contacts is a significant development in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus in Nigeria, as it indicates that the states are making progress in containing the outbreak.
It is worth noting that the Nigerian Government has taken several measures to contain the spread of the virus, including restricting travel, closing schools, and imposing a curfew in some states.
