Mr. President:
Fellow Nigerians,
I stand before you today to address a matter of grave concern to our nation. The outbreak of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has spread to every region of the world, and Nigeria is not immune to its impact.
As of today, we have confirmed cases of the virus in several states across the country. While the number of cases is still relatively low, we must not underestimate the severity of this pandemic. The World Health Organization has declared it a global pandemic, and we must take immediate and decisive action to protect our citizens.
As your President, I want to assure you that we are taking all necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus. We have activated our national emergency response plan, and our health authorities are working tirelessly to identify, isolate, and treat those affected.
We have also taken steps to enhance our surveillance and detection capabilities, including the deployment of additional testing kits and personnel to affected areas. Our medical teams are working around the clock to provide care and support to those in need.
In addition, we are taking measures to reduce the risk of transmission, including:
