Election of New Bishops
On February 20, 2018, the Church of Nigeria held its 2018 Bishops' Election at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos. The election was attended by over 300 delegates from across the country.
Newly Elected Bishops
The following bishops were elected:
- Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma - Bishop of Enugu West Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Olusola Sodipo - Bishop of Lagos West Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Adegbite - Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Israel Olaniyi - Bishop of Oyo Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Udofia - Bishop of Uyo Diocese
Outgoing Bishops
The following bishops retired:
- Most Rev. Dr. Sunday Ola-Makinde - Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Olubunmi Oloyede - Bishop of Oyo Diocese
- Most Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Udofia - Bishop of Uyo Diocese (elected as a new bishop)
Statement by the Primate
The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Henry Ndukuba, congratulated the newly elected bishops and thanked the outgoing bishops for their service to the church.
