Canada's new streams of immigration

Canada has introduced several new streams of immigration to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and other individuals who can contribute to the country's economy and society. Here are some of the new streams:

  1. Express Entry System: Launched in 2015, the Express Entry system is a points-based system that allows skilled workers to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The system has several streams, including:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): For skilled workers with a job offer or qualifications in a specific field.
    • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): For skilled tradespeople with a job offer or qualifications in a specific trade.
    • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): For temporary workers and international students who have gained experience in Canada.
  2. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Each province and territory in Canada has its own PNP, which allows them to nominate candidates for permanent residence. Many PNPs have their own streams, such as:
    • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP): Has streams for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international students.
    • British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP): Has streams for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international students.
    • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP): Has streams for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international students.
  3. Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP): This program allows employers in the Atlantic provinces (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador) to hire foreign workers for jobs that are difficult to fill locally.
  4. Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP): This program allows employers in rural and northern communities to hire foreign workers for jobs that are difficult to fill locally.
  5. Start-up Visa Program: This program allows entrepreneurs to start a business in Canada and apply for permanent residence.
  6. Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Stream: This stream is part of the Start-up Visa Program and allows entrepreneurs to apply for permanent residence if their business is innovative and has the potential to create jobs and economic growth.
  7. Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) - International Graduate Stream: This stream allows international graduates who have studied in the Atlantic provinces to apply for permanent residence.
  8. New Brunswick Express Entry Labour Market Stream: This stream allows skilled workers who are already in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence in New Brunswick.
  9. Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) - International Skilled Worker Stream: This stream allows skilled workers to apply for permanent residence in Saskatchewan.
  10. Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) - Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream: This stream allows skilled workers to apply for permanent residence in Manitoba.

These are just a few examples of the new streams of immigration in Canada. The government is constantly updating and refining its immigration programs to attract the right candidates and meet the country's labor market needs.
