Buhari wanted power so badly yet has done so little with it
A critical and honest assessment!
It's true that President Muhammadu Buhari has been in power for over 7 years now, and many Nigerians have high expectations from him. While he campaigned on a platform of change, many feel that he has not delivered on his promises.
Some of the criticisms leveled against him include:
- Economic stagnation: Despite inheriting a economy in recession, Buhari's administration has struggled to stimulate growth, create jobs, and reduce poverty.
- Corruption: While he promised to tackle corruption, many Nigerians feel that his administration has not made significant progress in this area. Corruption remains a major challenge in the country.
- Security: Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping have continued to plague the country, despite his administration's efforts to combat them.
- Infrastructure development: Many Nigerians feel that the country's infrastructure, including roads, power, and healthcare, has not seen significant improvement under his administration.
- Lack of transparency and accountability: There have been allegations of nepotism, cronyism, and lack of transparency in the allocation of resources and appointments in his administration.
It's worth noting that Buhari has faced numerous challenges during his tenure, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a significant impact on the global economy and Nigeria's economy in particular.
However, it's also important to acknowledge that the President has made some positive contributions, such as:
- Anti-corruption efforts: His administration has made some progress in tackling corruption, including the recovery of looted funds and the prosecution of high-profile corruption cases.
- Infrastructure development: While there may not have been significant progress in all areas, his administration has made some notable investments in infrastructure, such as the Lagos-Kano rail line and the Second Niger Bridge.
- Agricultural growth: Nigeria's agricultural sector has seen some growth under his administration, with increased production and exports of crops like rice, maize, and soybeans.
Ultimately, the assessment of Buhari's performance is subjective and depends on individual perspectives and expectations. While some may feel that he has not done enough, others may argue that he has made progress in certain areas.
