Buhari new year 2019 broadcast

Here is the text of President Muhammadu Buhari's New Year's Day broadcast to the nation on January 1, 2019:

Fellow Nigerians,

As we mark the beginning of a new year, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Almighty God for seeing us through another year. I also want to extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, as we embark on this new journey together.

2018: A Year of Progress

Last year was a significant one for our country. We made progress in many areas, despite the challenges we faced. We took bold steps to address the security challenges that had plagued our nation for too long. Our armed forces, working in conjunction with other security agencies, made significant gains against the terrorists and other criminal elements.

We also made progress in the area of infrastructure development. We completed several road projects, and we are making steady progress in the construction of new ones. Our rail system is being revitalized, and we are investing heavily in power generation and distribution.

2019: A Year of Hope and Opportunity

As we enter this new year, I want to assure you that we will continue to work tirelessly to address the challenges that we face. We will continue to prioritize the security of our citizens, and we will not rest until every Nigerian can live in peace and safety.

We will also continue to invest in infrastructure development, with a focus on completing ongoing projects and starting new ones. We will work to improve the power supply, and we will continue to support our farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs.

The Economy

Our economy has faced some challenges in recent years, but we are confident that we are on the path to recovery. We will continue to implement policies that promote economic growth and job creation. We will also work to reduce the cost of governance and to increase transparency and accountability in our public institutions.

The Future

As we look to the future, I want to assure you that we are committed to building a Nigeria that is just, equitable, and prosperous for all. We will continue to work towards a Nigeria where every citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

Conclusion

I want to thank all Nigerians who have contributed to our progress over the past year. I want to thank our armed forces, our security agencies, and our public servants who have worked tirelessly to keep our country safe and to deliver public services to our citizens.

I want to thank our international partners who have supported us in our efforts to build a better Nigeria. And I want to thank the Nigerian people, who have shown remarkable resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

As we enter this new year, I want to assure you that we will continue to work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. Thank you, and God bless Nigeria.
