Angel gabriel brings good news
A beautiful reference to the Bible!
In the Gospel of Luke (1:26-38), the angel Gabriel appears to the Virgin Mary, announcing that she will bear a son, Jesus Christ, who will be the Son of God. This event is often referred to as the Annunciation.
Gabriel's message is one of joy and hope, as he declares:
"Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!" (Luke 1:28)
And then he delivers the good news:
"Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." (Luke 1:31-33)
Mary's response is one of humility and obedience, as she says:
"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." (Luke 1:38)
Gabriel's announcement is a pivotal moment in salvation history, as it marks the beginning of the life of Jesus Christ, who would go on to bring salvation to humanity.
In Christian tradition, Gabriel is often depicted as a powerful and majestic angel, with a radiant presence and a message of hope and redemption. His appearance to Mary is a reminder of the power of God's word and the importance of faith and obedience.
