ANAMBRA PDP ELECTS NEW EXCOS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the party in the state.

The election, which held at the party's secretariat in Awka, the state capital, saw the emergence of a new chairman, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, and other executives.

Nwobu, a former member of the House of Representatives, polled 444 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Ejike Oguebego, who scored 246 votes.

The election was conducted by the PDP National Electoral Committee, led by Senator Abdul Ningi.

In his acceptance speech, Nwobu promised to work with all members of the party to rebuild and strengthen the party in the state.

"We will work tirelessly to rebuild and strengthen our party in Anambra State. We will also work with the national leadership of the party to ensure that our party remains a force to be reckoned with in the state," he said.

The new executives are expected to take over from the outgoing chairman, Mr. Tony Nwoye, who has been in office since 2017.

The election was attended by top party officials, including the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and the party's National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The election was also witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.

The emergence of Nwobu and other executives is seen as a major boost for the PDP in Anambra State, which has been dominated by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in recent years.

The PDP has been working to rebuild its structure in the state and has been making efforts to attract defectors from other parties.

The party has also been working to strengthen its grassroots structure and has been engaging with party members and stakeholders to build a strong and united party.

The election of new executives is seen as a major step in the party's efforts to rebuild and strengthen its structure in Anambra State.
