AKWA IBOM WARNS AGAINST EMPLOYMENT SCAM BY FRAUDSTERS

Uyo, Akwa Ibom State - The Akwa Ibom State Government has warned against a growing trend of employment scams by fraudsters in the state, urging citizens to be cautious and vigilant.

In a statement issued by the state's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh, the government said it has received reports of fraudulent activities by individuals and groups claiming to be recruiting for various government agencies and institutions in the state.

The statement warned that these scams are designed to defraud unsuspecting citizens of their hard-earned money and personal information.

"We want to alert the public to be wary of these scams and not to fall prey to the antics of these fraudsters," Udoh said. "We urge citizens to verify any employment opportunities through official channels and not to respond to unsolicited job offers or requests for payment."

The government also advised citizens to report any suspected employment scams to the appropriate authorities, including the state's Ministry of Information and Strategy, the Police, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

"We will not tolerate any form of fraud or scam in our state, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in such activities are brought to justice," Udoh said.

The government also reminded citizens that all employment opportunities in the state are advertised through official channels, including the state's website and social media platforms.

"We urge citizens to be cautious and vigilant, and to always verify any employment opportunities through official channels," Udoh said.

The warning comes as the state government continues to implement measures to combat fraud and corruption in the state.

In related news, the state's Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uwemedimo Nwoko, has announced plans to establish a special task force to investigate and prosecute cases of fraud and corruption in the state.

"We will not tolerate any form of fraud or corruption in our state, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in such activities are brought to justice," Nwoko said.

The government's warning and efforts to combat fraud and corruption are seen as a major step towards ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the state.
