5 new cardinals
Here are 5 new cardinals:
- Archbishop Lazarus You Heung-sik (South Korea): Born in 1961, Archbishop You is the current Archbishop of Daejeon and has been a bishop since 2003. He was appointed as a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2020.
- Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo (Indonesia): Born in 1950, Archbishop Suharyo is the current Archbishop of Jakarta and has been a bishop since 1997. He was appointed as a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2020.
- Archbishop Mateusz Kozłowski (Poland): Born in 1964, Archbishop Kozłowski is the current Archbishop of Lublin and has been a bishop since 2004. He was appointed as a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2020.
- Archbishop Anthony Poola (India): Born in 1952, Archbishop Poola is the current Archbishop of Hyderabad and has been a bishop since 2008. He was appointed as a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2020.
- Archbishop Paulo Sérgio Cutrim (Brazil): Born in 1954, Archbishop Cutrim is the current Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia and has been a bishop since 2001. He was appointed as a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2020.
These five new cardinals were appointed by Pope Francis on October 25, 2020, and were formally elevated to the College of Cardinals during a consistory on November 28, 2020.
