Yobe health workers put johesu strike on hold

It appears that the health workers in Yobe State, Nigeria have put on hold their strike action that was scheduled to commence on Monday, April 12, 2021, in solidarity with the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) nationwide strike.

According to reports, the Yobe State branch of JOHESU had earlier announced a 7-day warning strike to protest the non-implementation of the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the union and the Federal Government, as well as other grievances.

However, it seems that the health workers in Yobe State have decided to put the strike on hold, pending further discussions with the state government. The reason for this decision is not explicitly stated, but it is likely that the union is seeking to resolve the issues amicably and avoid disrupting healthcare services in the state.

It's worth noting that the JOHESU strike has been ongoing nationwide since April 17, 2021, with many healthcare workers in various states joining the strike to demand better working conditions, improved salaries, and the implementation of the 2017 MoU.
