Weiss barish thorne win nobel physics prize
I think there may be a small mistake there!
The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2020 was actually awarded to three scientists:
- Andrea Ghez (University of California, Los Angeles)
- Reinhard Genzel (Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics)
- Roger Penrose (University of Oxford)
They were awarded the prize "for the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of our galaxy" and "for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a nearby star and for the first detection of gravitational waves from merging neutron stars".
Andrea Ghez and Reinhard Genzel were recognized for their work on the discovery of a supermassive compact object at the centre of the Milky Way galaxy, which is now known as Sagittarius A (Sgr A). Roger Penrose was awarded the prize for his work on the mathematical theory of black holes, which was a key contribution to our understanding of these cosmic phenomena.
So, while Weiss, Barish, and Thorne are all notable physicists, they didn't win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2020. However, Kip Thorne did win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017, along with Rainer Weiss and Barry C. Barish, for their work on the detection of gravitational waves!
