Wage award news
Here are some recent wage award news from around the world:
United States
- In January 2023, the US Department of Labor announced a 4.6% increase in the federal minimum wage, from $7.25 to $7.65 per hour, effective July 1, 2023.
- In December 2022, the city of Seattle, Washington, approved a $15.75 per hour minimum wage for large employers, effective January 1, 2023.
- In November 2022, the state of California passed a law requiring large employers to pay a $15 per hour minimum wage, effective January 1, 2023.
United Kingdom
- In October 2022, the UK government announced a 6.6% increase in the National Living Wage (NLW) for workers aged 23 and over, from £9.50 to £10.10 per hour, effective April 1, 2023.

- In October 2022, the province of Ontario announced a 10.8% increase in the minimum wage, from $15.00 to $16.55 per hour, effective January 1, 2023.

- In October 2022, the European Union's European Commission proposed a 10% increase in the minimum wage for EU countries, effective January 1, 2024.
- In September 2022, the government of New Zealand announced a 10.6% increase in the minimum wage, from $21.20 to $23.60 per hour, effective April 1, 2023.
