Vehicles to begin registration with vehicle identification number vin from march 31st
In India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced that all vehicles will need to be registered with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from March 31st, 2021. Here are the types of vehicles that will need to begin registration with a VIN from March 31st:
- New Vehicles: All new vehicles, including cars, buses, trucks, and two-wheelers, will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Imported Vehicles: Vehicles imported into India will also need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Old Vehicles: Existing vehicles that are being sold or transferred will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Commercial Vehicles: Commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and autorickshaws, will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Two-Wheelers: Two-wheelers, including scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds, will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Three-Wheelers: Three-wheelers, including autorickshaws and three-wheeled scooters, will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
- Electric Vehicles: Electric vehicles, including e-cars, e-bikes, and e-autos, will need to be registered with a VIN from March 31st.
The VIN is a unique 17-character code that is assigned to each vehicle by the manufacturer. It contains information about the vehicle's make, model, year, and other specifications.
From March 31st, all vehicle owners will need to provide the VIN while registering their vehicles with the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The VIN will be used to track the vehicle's history, ownership, and other details.
