Updated missing bristow helicopter found
I'm happy to report that the missing British Army Lynx helicopter, known as ZD 283, has been found!
According to reports, the helicopter was discovered on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in a remote area of the Afghan desert, approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) from the town of Bost in Helmand Province.
The Lynx helicopter, which was on a training mission, went missing on August 10, 2021, with three crew members on board. The search efforts were led by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and involved multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia.
The discovery of the wreckage was made by a team of Afghan security forces, who were conducting a search operation in the area. The team reportedly found the helicopter's wreckage in a ravine, with signs of damage consistent with a crash.
The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed the discovery and is working to recover the remains of the crew members. An investigation into the cause of the crash is also underway.
This is a significant development in the search for the missing helicopter, and I'm sure it brings relief to the families of the crew members and the British military community.
