Trump attacks sessions over prosecutions of republicans close to midterms

A developing story!

According to reports, President Trump has launched a surprise attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions, criticizing him for not prosecuting Democrats and liberal activists more aggressively, particularly in the run-up to the 2018 midterm elections.

Trump's criticism comes after Sessions announced that the Justice Department would not pursue charges against former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was fired by Sessions in March 2018. McCabe had been under investigation for allegedly leaking information to the media and lying about it.

In a tweet, Trump wrote: "Why didn't A.G. Sessions replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a Comey friend leaker & liar, with a more capable leader? The corruption within the FBI and DOJ is staggering!"

Trump also took aim at Sessions' decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server while serving as Secretary of State. Trump tweeted: "Why didn't the Department of Justice investigate the Crooked Hillary disaster when she was being investigated?"

Sessions, a longtime Trump ally and former Senator from Alabama, has been under pressure from Trump and other Republicans to take a tougher stance on Democrats and liberal activists. However, Sessions has maintained that he will not be swayed by political pressure and will continue to follow the law and the evidence in his decisions.

The attack on Sessions comes at a sensitive time, just days before the midterm elections, which are expected to be highly competitive. Trump's criticism of Sessions may be seen as an attempt to rally his base and distract from the controversy surrounding his own administration.

It's worth noting that Trump's criticism of Sessions is not new. The two have had a strained relationship since Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation in March 2017, which Trump saw as a betrayal.
