Here are three historical events that occurred on this day (March 3rd) in different years:
- 1845 - The United States Congress passes a resolution to annex the Republic of Texas, which is then signed into law by President John Tyler. This leads to the Mexican-American War and ultimately the United States gaining control of a significant amount of land, including present-day California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.
- 1918 - The Finnish Civil War begins, as the Red Guards, led by the Finnish Socialist Workers' Party, rise up against the government and the White Guards, led by the Finnish Social Democratic Party. The war would last for several months and result in the deaths of thousands of people.
- 1966 - The Beatles release their album "Revolver", which is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. The album features some of the band's most famous songs, including "Eleanor Rigby", "Yellow Submarine", and "Tomorrow Never Knows".
