The new ig of police
You're referring to the new Inspector General (IG) of Police in Nigeria!
As of my knowledge cutoff, the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) is Usman Alkali Baba, who was appointed on April 7, 2021. He took over from Mohammed Adamu, who had been the IGP since January 15, 2020.
IGP Usman Alkali Baba is a career police officer with over 35 years of experience in the Nigeria Police Force. He has held various positions, including Commissioner of Police in several states, including Kano, Katsina, and Yobe.
As the IGP, Baba has pledged to focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the police force, as well as addressing the challenges facing the force, including corruption, inadequate resources, and public perception.
Some of his key priorities include:
- Improving police-community relations
- Enhancing police professionalism and accountability
- Strengthening intelligence gathering and analysis
- Enhancing the capacity of police officers
- Addressing the issue of police brutality and human rights abuses
It's worth noting that the appointment of a new IGP is a significant development in Nigeria, as the police force plays a critical role in maintaining law and order in the country.
