The new 100 naira note
You're referring to the newly redesigned 100 Naira note introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2017!
The new 100 Naira note features a portrait of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a Nigerian statesman and philosopher, on the obverse (front side). The reverse (back side) features a depiction of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
Some notable security features of the new 100 Naira note include:
- Watermark: A transparent image of Dr. Azikiwe's portrait that can be seen when held against light.
- Security Thread: A thin strip that runs through the paper, featuring the words "CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA" and the denomination "100".
- Raised Printing: Tactile features that can be felt when running your fingers over the note, including the numerals "100" and the words "NIGERIA" and "CENTRAL BANK".
- Color-Shifting Ink: The numeral "100" and the words "NIGERIA" and "CENTRAL BANK" change color when tilted.
- Micro-Printing: Tiny text that can only be seen under magnification, featuring the words "CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA" and the denomination "100".
These advanced security features aim to prevent counterfeiting and make it easier for the public to verify the authenticity of the new 100 Naira note.
