Ten commandments in the new testament kjv
I think there may be a bit of confusion here!
The Ten Commandments are actually found in the Old Testament, specifically in Exodus 20:1-17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-21. They were given by God to Moses and the Israelites as a covenant between God and His people.
The New Testament, on the other hand, is the second part of the Christian Bible, which tells the story of the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the early Christian church.
There are no "Ten Commandments" in the New Testament in the same sense as the Old Testament. However, Jesus and the apostles did teach and emphasize certain principles and commandments that are similar to the Old Testament Ten Commandments, but with a new emphasis on love, forgiveness, and the fulfillment of the law through faith in Jesus Christ.
Here are some examples of teachings and commandments in the New Testament that are similar to the Old Testament Ten Commandments:
- Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30, Matthew 22:37-38, Deuteronomy 6:5)
- Love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31, Leviticus 19:18)
- Do not murder (Romans 13:9, Matthew 5:21-22, Exodus 20:13)
- Do not commit adultery (Matthew 5:27-28, Romans 13:9, Exodus 20:17)
- Do not steal (Romans 13:9, Matthew 5:28, Exodus 20:15)
- Do not bear false witness (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9, Exodus 20:16)
- Do not covet (Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9, Exodus 20:17)
- Honor your father and mother (Ephesians 6:2-3, Exodus 20:12)
- Do not take the name of God in vain (James 5:12, Exodus 20:7)
- Observe the Sabbath day (Hebrews 4:9-11, Exodus 20:8-11)
These teachings and commandments are not a replacement for the Old Testament Ten Commandments, but rather a fulfillment and expansion of them through Jesus Christ.
