Tag new national minimum wage
As of January 2022, the new national minimum wage in the United States is:
$7.25 per hour
This rate has been in effect since July 24, 2009, and has not been increased since then. There have been ongoing efforts to raise the minimum wage, but so far, no changes have been made.
It's worth noting that some states and cities have implemented their own minimum wage laws, which may be higher than the federal minimum wage. For example:
- California: $15.00 per hour (effective January 1, 2022)
- New York: $14.20 per hour (effective December 31, 2021)
- Massachusetts: $15.00 per hour (effective January 1, 2022)
- Washington, D.C.: $15.00 per hour (effective July 1, 2021)
It's always a good idea to check with your employer or local government to determine the minimum wage rate in your area.
