Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of lying about the results of the just-concluded governorship election in the state.

According to reports, Governor Ikpeazu made this claim during a press conference in Umuahia, the state capital, where he alleged that INEC's results were not true reflections of the actual votes cast.

He reportedly said that the results announced by INEC were "cooked" and did not reflect the will of the people, adding that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would challenge the results in court.

This development comes as a surprise, as INEC had earlier declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alex Otti, as the winner of the election.

It's unclear at this point what evidence Governor Ikpeazu has to support his claims, but this could potentially lead to a legal battle between the PDP and APC.
