A blast from the past!
21st Century Fox was a media conglomerate that was formed in 2005 through the merger of News Corporation's entertainment assets with those of the Fox Entertainment Group. The company was a major player in the global media industry, with a diverse portfolio of businesses including:
- Film and television production and distribution: 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, 20th Century Fox Television, and Fox Searchlight Pictures.
- Cable networks: FX Networks, National Geographic Channel, and Fox News Channel.
- Television stations: Owned-and-operated stations and affiliates of the Fox Broadcasting Company.
- Publishing: HarperCollins Publishers.
- Digital media: Fox Interactive Media, which included the social networking site MySpace.
In 2019, 21st Century Fox was acquired by The Walt Disney Company for $71.3 billion, marking the end of an era for the company. The acquisition was completed on March 20, 2019, and Disney absorbed most of Fox's assets, including its film and television studios, cable networks, and international operations.
However, the legacy of 21st Century Fox lives on, and many of its former assets continue to thrive under the Disney umbrella.
