According to reports, two Indian nationals who were abducted in Benue State, Nigeria, have been released. The incident occurred on February 16, 2023, when the two Indians, identified as Rohan and Rakesh, were kidnapped from their residence in Makurdi, the state capital.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the release of the abducted Indians, stating that they were rescued by a joint team of security operatives, including the police, military, and vigilante groups.

The police spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, said that the rescue operation was carried out after receiving a tip-off about the location of the abductees. She added that the victims were found in a forest in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.

The Indian High Commission in Nigeria also confirmed the release of the two nationals, expressing gratitude to the Nigerian authorities for their efforts in securing their release.
