South korea passed the peak of outbreak health minister hopes
According to recent reports, South Korea's Health Minister Park Neung-hoo has expressed hope that the country has passed the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak.
On February 27, 2020, the Korean Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported 267 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 3,444. This marked a significant decline from the peak of 505 new cases reported on February 20.
Minister Park attributed the decline to the government's efforts to contain the spread of the virus, including:
- Enhanced contact tracing and testing: The government has increased the number of contact tracers and testing capacity to identify and isolate infected individuals quickly.
- Improved quarantine measures: The government has strengthened quarantine measures, including mandatory isolation for individuals who have come into close contact with confirmed cases.
- Increased public awareness: The government has launched public awareness campaigns to educate the public on the importance of hygiene, social distancing, and mask-wearing.
Minister Park stated that while the number of new cases is declining, it is still important to maintain vigilance and continue to take measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
It's worth noting that the World Health Organization (WHO) has also reported a decline in the number of new cases in South Korea, and has praised the country's response to the outbreak.
