Senate invites emefiele babachir over funds
It seems like there's been a development in the news!
According to reports, the Nigerian Senate has invited the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over allegations of mismanagement of funds.
Emefiele is expected to appear before the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions to answer questions regarding the CBN's handling of the Anchor Borrowers' Programme (ABP) and the Agricultural Small and Medium Enterprise Development Scheme (ASMEDS).
On the other hand, Babachir Lawal is being summoned to explain the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). He is accused of embezzling funds meant for the commission's activities.
The Senate is seeking to get to the bottom of these allegations and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. This move is seen as a step towards promoting transparency and good governance in the country.
What do you think about this development? Should those responsible for mismanaging funds be held accountable?
