Saraki faces 13 count corruption charges
You're referring to the corruption charges against Bukola Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara State and former President of the Nigerian Senate.
In 2015, Saraki was charged with 13 counts of corruption by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The charges were filed at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city.
The charges against Saraki included:
- Failure to declare his assets in 2003 and 2007
- Falsification of his assets declaration forms
- Falsification of his statement of assets and liabilities
- Failure to disclose his interests in companies and properties
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Global Scan Technologies Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Interlink Communications Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Carlip Property Development Company Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Skyview Properties Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Skyview Properties Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Carlip Property Development Company Limited
- Failure to disclose his interests in a private company, Interlink Communications Limited

Saraki denied all the charges and claimed that they were politically motivated. He was eventually acquitted of the charges in 2018 by the CCT, which ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
However, the Federal Government of Nigeria appealed the acquittal, and in 2019, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the charges against Saraki and ordered him to face a retrial. The retrial is still ongoing.
