However, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has denied any knowledge of the strike, despite being the head of the government's negotiating team with ASUU.

"I don't know anything about the strike," Ngige said in an interview. "I'm not aware of any strike by ASUU. Maybe you should ask the Minister of Education or the President."

The strike by ASUU, which began on February 14, has entered its 12th week, with the union demanding better working conditions, improved funding for universities, and the implementation of the 2009 agreement between the government and ASUU.

The strike has led to the closure of all public universities in the country, affecting over 1.5 million students and thousands of academic staff.

Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has also threatened to join the strike, citing similar demands as ASUU.
