Psalm 90 good news bible
Here is Psalm 90 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Psalm 90
- Lord, you have been our home for all eternity.
- You have lived right through the years, and your years have no end.
- In the beginning, you laid the earth's foundation.
- The heavens are the work of your hands.
- They will perish, but you will remain;
- they will wear out like a garment.
- You will roll them up like a cloak,
- and change them like a garment.
- But you are the same, and your years will never end.
- The years of a mortal man are seventy,
- or eighty if he is strong;
- but they are nothing compared to your years,
- for they are like a fleeting moment.
- In your sight, they are like yesterday,
- like a few hours gone by in the morning.
- Lord, your years are endless;
- they never come to an end.
- What are mortals, that you should think about them,
- that you should guide them like a shepherd?
- You have made them a little lower than yourself,
- and crowned them with glory and honor.
- You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;
- you have put everything under their feet.
- All things are subject to them,
- but they will not dominate you.
- They will all wear out like a garment,
- like a cloak that is worn out.
- But you remain the same,
- and your years will never end.
This psalm is often referred to as a "wisdom psalm" because it reflects on the nature of God and the human condition. It's a beautiful expression of the fleeting nature of human life and the enduring nature of God's existence.
