Psalm 51 good news bible

Here is Psalm 51 in the Good News Bible (GNB):

Psalm 51

A Prayer of David

  1. Have mercy on me, O God, because of your great love. Because of your great kindness, wipe away my sins.
  2. Wash me clean from my guilt. Make me pure from my sin.
  3. I know that you alone are righteous, and that you have taught me what is right.
  4. So I will confess my sins to you, and I will do what is right. I will thank you with a sincere heart, when you save me from my sins.
  5. Cleanse me from my iniquity, and wash me clean from my sin.
  6. I am so guilty, I am so sinful, but you alone can forgive my sins.
  7. Purify me from my sin, and make me clean again.
  8. You alone are the one who can make me clean, and you alone can make me pure.
  9. Make me hear joy and gladness, so that the bones you have broken will rejoice.
  10. Hide your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt.
  11. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and make me new again.
  12. Do not throw me away from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from me.
  13. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
  14. Then I will teach your ways to those who are rebellious, and sinners will turn back to you.
  15. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
  16. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
  17. You do not want sacrifices, or I would give them to you. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and humble heart.
  18. May it please you, O God, to help me. According to your great love, wipe away my sins.
  19. Then will you make me hear joy and gladness, and the bones you have broken will rejoice.
  20. Hide your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt.

This psalm is a beautiful expression of David's repentance and desire for forgiveness and cleansing from his sins. It is a powerful reminder of God's mercy and love, and the importance of seeking forgiveness and restoration.
