Psalm 51 good news bible
Here is Psalm 51 in the Good News Bible (GNB):
Psalm 51
A Prayer of David
- Have mercy on me, O God, because of your great love. Because of your great kindness, wipe away my sins.
- Wash me clean from my guilt. Make me pure from my sin.
- I know that you alone are righteous, and that you have taught me what is right.
- So I will confess my sins to you, and I will do what is right. I will thank you with a sincere heart, when you save me from my sins.
- Cleanse me from my iniquity, and wash me clean from my sin.
- I am so guilty, I am so sinful, but you alone can forgive my sins.
- Purify me from my sin, and make me clean again.
- You alone are the one who can make me clean, and you alone can make me pure.
- Make me hear joy and gladness, so that the bones you have broken will rejoice.
- Hide your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt.
- Create in me a clean heart, O God, and make me new again.
- Do not throw me away from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from me.
- Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
- Then I will teach your ways to those who are rebellious, and sinners will turn back to you.
- Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
- O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.
- You do not want sacrifices, or I would give them to you. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and humble heart.
- May it please you, O God, to help me. According to your great love, wipe away my sins.
- Then will you make me hear joy and gladness, and the bones you have broken will rejoice.
- Hide your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt.
This psalm is a beautiful expression of David's repentance and desire for forgiveness and cleansing from his sins. It is a powerful reminder of God's mercy and love, and the importance of seeking forgiveness and restoration.
