Psalm 27 new living translation

Here is Psalm 27 in the New Living Translation (NLT):

Psalm 27

  1. The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

  2. When the wicked advance against me, my enemies and foes stumble and fall.

  3. Though a mighty army sets itself against me, my heart will not be afraid; I will not be disturbed. I will trust in you, Lord my God, for ever and ever.

  4. Your promise is all I have; it is my only hope.

  5. I rely on your promise, Lord; my heart is confident in you. I will praise you, Lord my God, as long as I live.

  6. Do not put your servants to shame, for I sing your praises with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.

  7. For your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!

  8. I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

  9. Do not let those who seek to destroy me on the earth be encouraged.

  10. Do not let those who plot my downfall rejoice at my expense.

  11. But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

  12. I cry out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. I sleep and I sleep, for the Lord sustains me.

  13. I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

  14. Rise up, Lord! May your enemies be scattered; may your foes flee before you.

  15. Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

  16. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

  17. Show me the way I should go, for to follow you is my greatest joy. Help me follow your commands, that I may live; and may your good Spirit guide me.

  18. Turn your ear to me, and hear my cry. Show me the wonders of your unfailing love.

  19. Keep me safe, Lord, for in you I have taken refuge.

  20. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

  21. May integrity and honesty protect me, because my hope is in you.

  22. Do not let me be put to shame, Lord, for I have cried out to you. But let integrity and honesty protect me, for I have put my hope in you.

  23. Keep me safe, Lord, for in you I have taken refuge.

  24. May integrity and honesty protect me, because my hope is in you.

  25. May those who are against me be put to shame and confusion; may they turn back and be dishonored. May those who seek to destroy me be turned back and be confounded.

  26. May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” turn back because of their shame.

  27. But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, “The Lord is great!”

  28. But I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.

  29. The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

  30. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

  31. And with gladness you will drink from the streams of God’s delight.

  32. For you, O Lord, have blessed me and kept me from harm. You have set my feet in a spacious place.

  33. I will bless you, Lord, and always praise your name, for your love and your faithfulness, for you have set my feet in a spacious place.

  34. You have given me a noble heritage— O that my enemies would write a bitter end,

  35. for they have fared like the grass, which withers away, though they seem to flourish in their schemes.

  36. But you, O Lord, are forever exalted.

  37. For even the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

  38. For the Lord is their strength and their shield, and he is the salvation of his anointed.

  39. They will be called the Lord’s people, and of his people they will be called holy.

  40. The Lord gives his people the blessing of peace.
