Psalm 27 good news bible

Here is Psalm 27 in the Good News Bible (GNB):

Psalm 27

  1. The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

  2. When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they stumble and fall.

  3. Though a mighty army sets against me, my heart will not be afraid; though war breaks out against me, even then I will be confident.

  4. One thing I ask from the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in his house all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him.

  5. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will hide me under his cover and set me high above all things.

  6. I will say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; apart from you, I have no good thing." Israel, put your hope in the Lord, both now and forevermore.

  7. The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

  8. You are my rock, my fortress, my deliverer; you are my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge. My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!

  9. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise— he will answer me; he will be with me in trouble. He will rescue me and honor me.

  10. With my voice I will call out to the Lord; I will make my plea to God Almighty. From his temple he will hear my cry; my cry comes before him, into his ears.

  11. The Lord blesses those who come to him in a righteous way, when they remember to obey his laws.

  12. For the Lord will not reject his people; he will not abandon his heritage.

  13. Speak out to the Lord, all the earth! Burn incense to him and offer your sacrifices at noon every day.

  14. Come into his presence with thanksgiving; come with songs into his courts.

  15. Honor the Lord with the fruit of your lips; offer him your morning and evening sacrifices.

  16. But I take heart and sing your praises. I will trust in the Lord always, and praise him forevermore.

  17. My heart is steadfast, Lord, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music to you, the Lord.

  18. You are my help and my deliverer; you are my God, my rock, my stronghold.

  19. Do not grant the wicked their wishes, Lord, do not help their evil schemes.

  20. Those who do not follow you will be silenced in the pit; they will fall into the trap they set for themselves.

  21. The wicked will fall into their own traps, but the righteous will rejoice and be glad.

  22. May all the wicked of the earth vanish, so that the righteous may be exalted.

  23. I know that the Lord will help me; that the Lord will not let me stumble.

  24. I will be confident and will not fear, for the Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
